There is a time for us to break out of our box, take off the training wheels, and make the decision to NO LONGER PLAY THE LONE RANGER.
Sir. Richard Branson said that he owes his success to learning the ART of Delegation at an early age. Running over 300 companies part time and having billions to show for it. Hmmm, something to think about.
Live in Balance, not Burnout.
The truth is learning the ART of delegation is going to allow your business growth to explode.
I was talking with a good friend a few days ago and he was telling me how he was recording video on his video camera, downloading it to his computer, editing on Final Cut Pro, then opening it in iMovie so he could create a file that he could upload to his website!
He went on to say, I’ve got all of these old audio cassettes that I need to learn to transfer to my computer and use Audacity (audio program) to clean them up and…. “STOP,” I interrupted, you shouldn’t be doing any of that. You have to ask yourself…
This is stereotypical of us experts. We can figure it out on our own, we can do it faster and better than the ‘other guy’ AND we’re saving money in the process!
WRONG ANSWER.
Doing it all yourself will kill your business and lead to poor health and frustration.
Do your one thing and direct others to do EVERYTHING you are not at.
Being the Lone Ranger is stunting your growth. You need to learn to delegate, be creative and resourceful and LEAD others by defining your goals, communicating deadlines weeks and months out and generating contagious excitement about your vision.
In the following videos I will discuss how I have learned to delegate tasks that are too time consuming for me to be bothered with.
When I started my first job as a janitor, my father, who I highly respect, told me, never think you’re above doing any task. I have lived that moniker until recently and have learned the hard way, the long way and the frustrating way how to do every part of every task myself; being a jack of all – master of few.
Let me tell you right now,
You are above doing every task that is keeping you from exploding your business!
YOUR JOB IS TO CONCENTRATE ON DOING THAT ONE THING THAT YOU ARE KNOWN FOR WITH EXCELLENCE; AND IN DOING YOU WILL LEARN TO ATTRACT AND INSPIRE OTHERS TO ASSIST IN BRINGING YOUR VISION TO FRUITION!
Once you have a good person or two how do you keep the ones that are mentally “on board” and part ways with the ones are not?
Create a culture of fun, respect, balance, creativity and illicit the best performance from your team members and create win-win scenarios.
Watch the videos to the left to start on your journey. If you already have some experience with this, you’ll still learn a few things here.
